Conference and discussion: The future of the UN in a globalized world.

THE UN TURNS 75 THIS YEAR AND WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

Under the slogan "UN@75, 2020 and beyond, shaping our future together" United Nations has launched a global and interactive dialogue aimed at generating reflection on the value of multilateralism.

At this crucial moment in history, UN75 raises three big questions:

What kind of future do we want to create? How do you imagine your ideal world would be 25 years from now, when the United Nations celebrates its centenary? How is it different from the world you see today?

Are we on the right track? What kind of world will we live in 25 years if current global trends continue?

What measures are needed to close the gap? What steps must we take now to create a better world for future generations?

75th ANIVERSARY

From 29 September to 25 November, the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations.

Why now?, 2020 marks the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations. Under the slogan "UN@75, 2020 and beyond, shaping our future together" The United Nations has launched a global and interactive dialogue aimed at generating a reflection on the value of multilateralism, our priorities and how to build a better future for all.

For the United Nations, 2020 will be a year to listen and learn.

What is intended to be achieved? in a world of drastic change and complex challenges, from the current health crisis, the climate crisis and demographic changes or the unknown course of technology, we need dialogue and collective action more than ever, and we realize the need to cooperate by transcending borders and generations to continue paddling in the right direction.

Reasons for participating. The United Nations is one of the tools we have to cooperate. The United Nations is much more than a peacekeeping organization and a forum for conflict resolution. It is an organization that feeds millions of people every day; vaccinating nearly half of the world's children; offering protection to civilians caught up in conflict; that cares about the environment; to guarantee human rights; health and medical research, education. United Nations promotes women's empowerment around the world... And a long etcetera.

Of course, it is also an Organization that can and should improve. And we, individually and collectively, can and must respond in solidarity to the construction of the world we want.

In Spain we want to open a door to participate in this global dialogue through this Website and the events that are being organized. Join the conversation

75th Anniversary of the United Nations

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Arancha González Laya, reaffirms Spain's commitment to the #multilateralism and to the United Nations on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of this Organization.

A global conversation

October 24, 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the entry into force of the Charter of San Francisco, the founding document of the United Nations.
To celebrate, the #UN begins a global conversation about:
👫 People - 🌍 Planet - 📈 Prosperity - 🕊️ Peace - 🤝 Partnerships. To decide what future we want.

Peace

On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, the United Nations has initiated a global dialogue on the "5 P" to improve the world: peace, people, the planet, prosperity and partnerships.
In this video we analyze the first of these dimensions, the #paz, necessary to foster just and inclusive societies, and review historical milestones such as the birth of the #UN, the creation of the International Criminal Court or the establishment of the #Agenda2030.

People

On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, the United Nations has initiated a global dialogue on the "5 P" to improve the world: peace, people, the planet, prosperity and partnerships.
The second of these P's, #people, are at the heart of the fight against inequality. Through milestones such as the Beijing Declaration on the Rights of #women and #girls or the 2018 Global Convenant for #Refugees we move towards full recognition of #HumanRights around the world.

Spain at the San Francisco Conference

June 26 marks the 75th anniversary of the signing of the San Francisco Charter, which created the United Nations.
Democratic Spain was present at this meeting: the Spanish Courts in Exile requested to join the Conference and sent a delegation headed by Alvaro de Albornoz.
Although Spain was admitted to the UN in 1955, it was not until 1977, after the process of democratic transition, that it held its right position among the democracies of the world.

Prosperity

On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, the United Nations has initiated a global dialogue on the "5 P" to improve the world: peace, people, the planet, prosperity and partnerships.
#prosperidad's P refers to poverty eradication fostering inclusion, key to achieving #SDG of #Agenda2030 such as #ZeroHunger, decent work or reducing inequalities.

Planet

On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, the United Nations launches a global dialogue on the "5 P" for the world for the better.
P for #planet refers to the fight against climate change for environmental conservation. Milestones such as the adoption of the Kyoto Protocol, the Paris Agreement or the conclusion of the #COP25 in Madrid have progressed in this goal, key to achieving #SDG such as sustainable management of #water and marine resources.
